The brief

Coordinate a group press trip to the Maldives, offering selected journalists an immersive experience through an itinerary allowing them to discover the destination's offerings beyond the classic beach vacation.

The project

On behalf of Visit Maldives, our agency organized a group press trip from April 20th to 26th, 2024 in collaboration with Fly Dubai and three Maldivian resorts to showcase the different types of resorts and the exclusive experiences that can only be enjoyed in the Maldives. The group included representatives from four Italian media outlets, between trade and lifestyle magazines, all escorted by the Italian PR manager.

The itinerary, structured with visits to three different islands and accommodations, along with sports activities and excursions, was designed to foster a deep connection with the destination and enable the media to get to know it better.

The trip began at Villa Park Resort on Sun Island, one of the largest Maldivian islands in the South Ari Atoll. Here, the group relaxed at the family-friendly resort, enjoying a pleasant swim, canoe excursion, and boat trip with a local guide to observe marine life, including whale sharks, sea turtles, and manta rays. The Teppanyaki beach dinner pleasantly amazed everyone.

The next adventure for the group was a luxury experience at the Pullman Maldives on Mamuuta Island in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll. During their stay in the water villas, the journalists participated to a sunset cruise with an unexpected dolphin show, went snorkeling from the resort's beach, enjoyed an afternoon wellness treatment at the spa, and savored the culinary offerings at two of the resort's restaurants and bars. The group also had the opportunity to attend the mermaid show, an exclusive underwater performance by the resort's diving instructor, from one of the only three underwater villas in the Maldives.

The last destination was the Mercure Maldives Resort, located on Koodoo Island in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll. Here, the group explored the nearby island of Maamendhoo, one of the atoll's islands inhabited by the local population. They had the opportunity to take an excursion aboard a traditional Dhoni boat and snorkel, admiring the wonderful coral reef accompanied by an expert guide. Additionally, the group greatly appreciated the resort's exceptional offerings, including Maldivian cuisine and spa treatments.

The overall experience was an enchanting first experience to the Sunny Side of Life for each of the participants’ media: TTG Italia, F, Marie Claire and Mio.
