The brief
Tahiti Tourisme organizes its annual event "Meet The Islands of Tahiti" to provide training for travel agents alongside its partners. We turned it into a three-day event that involved not only travel agents but also tour operators, media, and the end consumer.
The Project
From November 21 to 23, we brought The Islands of Tahiti to the heart of Milan, opening the doors of our Tahitian home for 3 days of immersive events showcasing the destination, highlighting the lesser-known beauties of the islands, and diving deep into their essence.
- 38 tour operators and 61 travel agents were involved through presentations and direct meetings with the destination's partners, including hotels, airlines, and cruise and navigation companies
- 34 media outlets delved into the topic of sustainable tourism by participating in a dedicated panel with exceptional speakers who shared their perspectives on the subject
- 140 potential travelers were involved in four thematic meetings organized with specialized tour operators. The sessions focused on exploring diving, sailing, off-the-beaten-path itineraries, and cultural experiences
- The venue that hosted our event was set up and personalized using sustainable and recyclable materials. The panels and images used in the setup were designed to be reused, as they will continue to live on as decorations in travel agency windows and for other events
- We hosted an exclusive photographic exhibition, a preview for our guests, created in collaboration with Leica Camera Italia, featuring stunning shots by photographers and videographers Luigi Chiurchi and Pietro Ienca. They explored the authentic spirit of the islands and the importance of their preservation through an in-depth look at the natural and cultural beauties of the Marquesas Islands and beyond
- We brought the warmth of Tahitian culture to life through the vibrant and engaging performances of the Polynesian artists from Aloha Tahiti Show, featuring traditional dances and music, the creation of flower leis, and the ancient art of Polynesian tattooing with its fascinating symbols and meanings. We recreated a true "Tattoo Studio" at the venue
- We asked our guests to tell us the first word they associate with Tahiti, and we were surprised along with them to find that the stereotype traditionally linked exclusively to honeymoon trips or stays in overwater bungalows is giving way to deeper and more diverse experiences
- We invited our audience to close their eyes and let their senses take over to fully grasp the essence of the islands through our sensory experiences
- Through the inspirations and information we conveyed during the event, we aim to generate renewed interest in the destination and to raise awareness and appreciation of its most genuine aspects, in order to promote conscious and responsible tourism.
